Broccoli Indian style - stir fry

Broccoli  fry is a dry curry served with rice.  This is a very kid friendly recipe and is something made regularly in my kitchen. Broccoli is rich in vitamin K and vitamine C. I first eat broccoli fry at a friends place and absolutely loved it. Kids like it so much that they can just eat it by itself without rice. Its  one of our family favorite curry.

Preparation time -  20 minutes

Serving - 4

Ingredients

1 medium size Broccoli bunch
1/2 Tsp cumin seeds
1/4 mustard seeds
1/4 Tsp turmeric Powder
1/2 Tsp coriander/cumin powder
1/2 Tsp salt
1/4 Tsp red chili powder or to taste
3 tsp Oil

Procedure
  1. Cut the broccoli in to small florets.  I keep some of the stem because it is crunchy.
  2. Wash the broccoli florets under running water. You can also soak it in boiled water for 2 minutes.
  3. Heat the oil in a non stick pan.
  4. Add the mustard and cumin seeds and wait till it splutters.
  5. Then add the cut broccoli, turmeric, chili powder, salt, and coriander/ cumin powder. Stir fry without covering on medium flame for 5 minutes.
  6. Make sure to stir gently every minutes.
  7. Cover it with a lid and cook for 10-12 minutes. Open and stir every 2 minutes.
  8. The broccoli should be cooked but still have the crunchy.
  9. Transfer to a dish and eat with hot rice and some ghee,
