Tomatillo-Tomato Pappu

Tomato pappu is know for its bold and spicy flavors. However this recipe is not to hot or spicy, its tangy and delicious. I make my dals  medium spicy because my kids like it that way. Dal or lentils are an important part of my cooking as a vegetarian and I make some kind of dal almost everyday unless I make sambar or some beans. Tomato dal has a very earthy flavor and is a super hit in my family. Tomatillo along with tomatoes make it more tangy and you will enjoy this dal if you like tangy spicy taste. This dal with some steaming hot rice and ghee along with a side vegetable curry is a complete meal. In andhra we eat this with some avakai pickle and its just too good!!
